Poetry: Here

By Monica C. Voskamp

What did I do so wrong

To get here?

How could have I missed

All those bleeping signs?

How did I, how did I

End up here?

Broken shattered mess.

They call me hopeless

But still I protest

Is it delusion or is it hope

I don’t really want to know

I just know I need to leave,

Get out of here.

Everywhere I look

There is glass.

Millions and millions of shards

Broken sharp edged glass.

Pieces of life

The wrongs of others

The wrongs of mine

All chaotic around.

What did I do so wrong

To end up here?

I thought I had some good in my heart

I would like to think I’m not that bad

But if so, then surely,

Surely I wouldn’t be standing

In the dismantled chards

Of here.

Poetry: Regret

By Monica C. Voskamp

I lost you to the wind

One day you were here

And the next you were gone

I lost you to the wind

And there’s no way

You’re ever coming back.

I could search my whole life

I could sail the 7 seas

I could cross the distant sands

Yet still I could never meet

The speed of the wind nor

The trail it blazes in time.

I lost you to the wind

And that is on me

That is on me.
