Poetry: Hold Me Close

By Monica C. Voskamp

Hold me close

When the shivers of the past

Clutch my throat.

Hold me close

As I can’t stop the shaking

Remembering.

Hold me close

And tell me a new message

Write into my soul every language

That will speak forever

The foreign words,

Love.

Just hold me close

As the pain weeps from my soul

It is dark– I’m sorry for that-

But I need you to stay

Don’t let me go.

Let me stay here for a moment longer

Let the pain weep bitterly

So all the poison comes out

Hold me close.

Be patient while I heal

Love, please promise me

You’ll hold me close.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. ❤

Poetry: Use to Be

By Monica C. Voskamp

Without you

My hearts on pause

My souls on autopilot

It’s pounding out

Forced monotone rhythm

I try live in.

Without you

It doesn’t feel right

I miss our oceans ebb & tide

I miss our natural melody

The day to day colours

We use to be.

Without you

I try think logic and justify

I try ignore loss & grief

I try deny magical feels

That broke loose million dollar smiles

Just thinking of you.

Without you

My world is thrown off kilter

My feet are way off beat

I’m stumbling out of sync

Missing the much loved song

We use to sing.

Without you

My heart just closed its door

My song just flew away

My soul can’t register another word

I’m missing the favourite on repeat,

We use to be.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. 💞
