Poetry: Girl on High Wire

By Monica C. Voskamp

Confidence renewed,

She places her foot

Firmly down on

Thick knotted wire.

Inhaling deep

She lets go

All anxieties,

And steadies herself.

Balancing slow

Calming her heart

She wills herself

To step forward.

I can do this

She says

I can do this again.

Watch her,

And smile

There she goes

Girl on high wire.

Always believe. Always hope. Always love. ❤

Poetry: Summer Song

By Monica C. Voskamp

Floated away

Late one summer’s eve

My heart’s song.

I search the wind

The forests deep

I search the creeks,

The streams and trees

But cannot find her.

Captured somewhere

Her voice can’t speak

My heart’s song.

I call out to the stars

I scream into the dark

I call her name loud

Every turn I make

Yet still cannot find

My heart’s song.

I’m so sorry

Tears stream down

I’m sorry for mistaking

The beauty you were

And letting the dark

Become your hiding place.

I’m so sorry

Again I apologize

I know you’re afraid

I know you’re broken

Silent melody now.

Hiding somewhere

Scared to come out

My heart’s song.

I won’t give up

I know you’re longing

To play notes of joy

I promise you,

You will sing again.

I will find you,

Mend your broken strings

Hold you close, help you see

It’s still possible

To sing.

I catch winter’s cold

Let him carry me

Into the ice below

Determined to find

My heart’s song.

Frozen somewhere

In past chaos,

She is covered deep

Waiting for warmth

Of gentle healing free.

I’ll find the key

With sunlight’s love

Melt frozen lyrics

Free serenade sweet

My summer song.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. ❤

Poetry: No More

By Monica C. Voskamp

Hear the words of my heart

Screaming silence

Hear the echoing of pain

Deafening roar.

No more, No more

No more times to hurt me

It’s high time I looked

Offenders in the eye

No more no more

No more will you hurt me.

See the beauty

Maddening loss

See the innocent

Ruined furniture.

Objects of selfish

Pride and lust

Greed and hate

Hear the innocent cry,

Atomic bomb.

No more, No more

No more times to hurt me

I look offenders in the eye

No more no more

No more will you

Ever hurt me.

Colours splattered

Bruises made

Foundations cracked

Heritage lost.

What does it matter

When the past

Entangles, cripples innocent

While the offenders

Walk out.

No more, No more

No more times to hurt me

I look offenders in the eye

No more no more

No more dare you hurt me.

Piecing together

Burning Ashes

Creating abstract art.

Recreating her

Present chaos

Making loss

Astounding gain.

Lost whisper

In the wind

Bleeds into a song

Resilience, hope

Strength to carry on.

She raises her

Ashes charred

A mesmerizing

New beauty.

She raises her

Soul patched

Work of Art

New beginning.

No more, No more

No more times to hurt me

I leave offenders cruelty

No more, no more

This, my goodbye.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. 💕

Poetry: Nightmare Trauma

*** Trigger warning ***

By Monica C. Voskamp

Frozen pillar of femininity,

Stuck in time

Stuck in a memory

Of evil haunting.

Broken spell,

Touch of love

Poison gushing

Woman melting

Gasping for air.

Years of pain hidden

Now over taking,

Wounded woman reliving,

Gentle presence whispering

Holding her steady

As woman’s fragility

Shatters without warning.

Quiet presence listening

Screams releasing

Watching her nightmare

Resurface all over again.

Woman unfrozen

Woman broken

Woman reliving

Nightmare trauma,

Cruel suffering

To live it not once

But all over again.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. ❤

Poetry: Find Me

By Monica C.  Voskamp

Where. When. Will you

Find me?

In these empty places

Will you meet me?

In these barren caves

That hold no answers

Here I am,

This is where you can

Find me.

I’m waiting. Wondering.

Willing you

To come to me.

Time crawls by

I haven’t seen dawn’s light

Are you still digging through

My past rubbled heap

Are you lost, perplexed,

Maybe turned off,

By the maze leading

To me?

Or can I trust you

To navigate complex corridors

With certainty?

At the very least,

Just let me know

You’re coming.

I need this hope,

I need to know,

I need one affirmation,

I’m on my way

Just please,

Hurry up.

Find me.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. ❤
