Poetry: Home for Christmas

By Monica C. Voskamp

There’s a place for you

Here at the table.

Dinner is waiting

Mom’s keeping it warm

Christmas lights are shining

The music is playing

We can’t wait for you

For you to come home.

Come home

Come home for Christmas.

Come home

We know you have missed us.

With arms wide open

We want you to know,

You’ll always belong

So darling please come home

This Christmas.

There’s a place for you

Here at the table.

Memories are waiting

Worth being retold.

Christmas gifts all ready

Food on the table

The children all  wondering

When you’ll be home.

Come home

Come home for Christmas.

Come home

We know you have missed us.

With arms wide open

We want you to know

You’ll always be welcome

So darling please come home

For Christmas.

There’s a place for you

Here at the table.

Dad’s chopping the wood

Got the fireplace going.

The drive was long

Come warm yourself

Everything’s ready

For you to come home.

You’re home

You’re home for Christmas.

Your home

You know you have missed us.

With arms wide open

We want you to know

You’ll always belong

Here every Christmas.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. 💞
